What do you get when you combine an Air Force spouse, proud mom of two littles, and an entrepreneur with a passion for the military community?
Tip your hat to Public Relations extraordinaire, Lyndsey Akers.
Lyndsey became a part of the military community over a decade ago when she met her charming Airman husband in Charleston, S.C. After one blind date, the two were attached at the hip and ready to start the adventure of a lifetime.
They moved to Washington, D.C. and spent an incredible NINE years in the Nation’s capital. (Stability…that sounds like a dream as a military spouse!)
During her time there, when she wasn’t busy working for the Air Force Association or running around Capitol Hill, she was supporting her husband’s career, and enjoying all that D.C. had to offer, such as a 4th of July Bruno Mars concert on the White House lawn.
After welcoming their first child in 2019, Lyndsey realized that she wanted to carve an entrepreneurial path that would allow her to make an impact, make an income and live an intentional life with her family. She was crushing the corporate ladder and found value in her work, but knew there was a different path to success.
And that is exactly where the idea for Akers&Co began.
From Corporate to Intential Connection
Lyndsey stepped away from the demanding corporate environment, following more than a decade of strategic communications in the corporate and non-profit world, to build a business of intention.
Now, as a sought-after boutique Public Relations firm, she is delivering PR and visibility strategies to dozens of impact-focused businesses and brands.
As an Air Force spouse, Lyndsey has been able to mesh her work and personal passions, supporting military-connected missions and brands. She was selected as the Chair of the United Forces and Families (F2) Community through the Air and Space Forces Association for her deep passion for service members and their families.
Since launching Akers&Co, she has landed her clients in high-visibility media opportunities like Military Families Magazine, Forbes, We Are The Mighty, and CNBC.
